Another name for Corten steel is weather-resistant steel: weather conditions actually have a positive influence on the material. Corten steel is a metal alloy consisting of iron, to which copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel and chromium are added. When exposed to the outside air, the material is covered with a protective rust layer. This natural rust layer forms the protection against further corrosion. This gives the planter a long lifespan.
